El Centro Escolar – San Salvador

Through our partnership with The Rock Foundation, headed by actor Dwayne Johnson, we wrote to our new friends in third, fourth and fifth grades at the El Centro Escolar in San Salvador. The students wrote the letters in Spanish and the foundation provided interpreters to help with the session.

Kamayoge Primary School – Rusinga Island

Through our partnership with our friends over at One Kid One World, Project Knapsack partnered with elementary and secondary students from the Kamayoge Primary School located on Rusinga Island in Kenya. Rusinga Island lies along Lake Victoria and is widely known for its extraordinary rich and significant fossil beds of extinct micocene mammals dated back over 18 million years.

Molalatladi Primary School – Soweto

Molalatladi Primary School is a K-8 grade school located in Soweto, South Africa. Soweto stands for South-western Township and is considered the largest and most impoverished region in Johannesburg. Project Knapsack continues to work with the wonderful students and teachers at Molalatladi. The Principal of the School is Julia Ngobeni.

N’Kosi’s Haven Orphanage – Johannesburg

Nkosi’s Haven orphanage is a recognized NGO in Johannesburg South Africa. The organization has been in operation since 1999 and offers holistic care and support for infected mothers with HIV/AIDS and her children, whether they are infected or not. All of the students living at Nkosi’s Haven attend local private schools.

American International School of Lusaka

The American International School of Lusaka is a co-education day school for students two to eighteen years of age. There are approximately 500 students that attend AISL, many whose families are from various parts of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Care For Kids Orphanage – Lusaka

Care For Kids orphanage works with mothers and their children by providing a stable, safe environment and free home schooling for all students while their mothers go to work each day.

Chudleigh House School – Lusaka

Project Knapsack launched its program at The Chudleigh House School in March of 2007. The school accepts learners in kindergarten through twelfth grades. In addition to the core classes such as math, grammar, geography and science, students are given the opportunity to explore debate, chess, poetry, music and traditional dance.

Jacaranda Basic School – Lusaka

Located in a small, under-developed area in Kabwe, Jacaranda students attend school each day and have access to the basic resources needed to excel in the classroom. Students and families are required to pay a small fee each year that will go towards purchasing school uniforms and tuition fees.

Timothy Mwanakatwe School – Lusaka

The school is located in Lusaka Zambia and occupies students in first through eighth grades. In the past, the school has had difficulty raising funds for additional extra curricular activities. The goal is to be able to make the school a free school for all students.
